Externally the architecture is contemporary and modern with a folding roof form and wide eaves detailed to present a crisp edge profile. At the front of the building a wider projecting eave, supported by tapering steel columns, shelters customers as they make their way to and from a smaller scaled entrance annex. An extensive glass frontage facing Lunn Avenue permits internal market activities to be readily visible from the customer car park and passing road traffic. Natural light is introduced into the retail hall both by this glass frontage and by strip windows located at high level under the eaves.

Extensive areas of landscaping, employing predominantly native plantings and local stonework, enhances the entrance roadway and car park areas and frames the new building set back from Lunn Avenue.
